Bermagui Historical Society is once again presenting the exhibition
“People & Their Boats”
Exhibitors’enthusiasm and spectators very positive feedback from last year has inspired the staging of the event over two days-Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October in Bermagui Community Hall
This will showcase a visual feast of displays about boating in days gone by, and a vast array of marine artefacts and curiosities. There will also be an amazing model fishing boat display replicating the Bermagui fishing harbour in the days of the large fishing fleet. Model Fishing Boat enthusiasts from the Bega Valley will also be displaying their boats and the stories that go with them.
An historic photographic slideshow will enhance the importance of the connection of fishing with the local area and also the people who travelled here just to capture that elusive fish. Film presentations of Zane Grey (C1930’s) and The Swordfish & Tunny Club First Marlin Movie will feature on both days.
The “Remarkable Stories of Australians and their Boats” banner display has been arranged in conjunction with the Australian National Maritime Museum. These tell stories of individuals connection to their boats from all over Australia.
Bermagui Men’s Shed will be enticing visitors with their delicious sausage sizzle on both days.
